Troubleshooting and Diagnosis

Step 01:

First, reduce unnecessary startup items:
Click "Start → All Programs → Accessories → Run" in sequence. Then, enter "msconfig" and switch to the "Startup" tab in the pop-up dialog box. Disable unnecessary startup items (as shown in the figure).

Under normal circumstances, only one input method program and one antivirus software are needed to run at startup. This step is mainly aimed at improving boot speed. Some optimization software can also be used to achieve this goal. The core idea is to disable unnecessary startup items.

Step 02:

Next, reduce the Windows 7 system startup display time:
Click "Start → All Programs → Accessories → Run" in sequence, then enter "msconfig" and switch to the "Boot" tab in the pop-up "System Configuration" dialog box. The lower right corner will display the startup wait time. The default is 30 seconds, but it can generally be shortened to 3 seconds, 5 seconds, etc. (as shown in the figure).

After restarting, you will find that the computer is no longer slow. In fact, most computers slow down after a period of use, but this is rarely a hardware issue. As long as you have the right approach, these problems can be easily solved!

There are many other examples. In fact, as long as you can analyze the situation, most computer problems can be easily fixed. I won't provide all examples here, but I will share some common steps to address frequent computer crashes. These are based on experience gathered by predecessors and shared here for everyone to learn from.

Common Issues and Solutions for Computer Crashes

Symptoms of the "Black Screen of Death" During Boot:

This issue occurs when the computer cannot boot properly, commonly referred to as the "Black Screen of Death." The main causes of such crashes include:

  1. Improper BIOS settings.
  2. Vibration or movement of the computer.
  3. Dust causing corrosion on circuits or interfaces.
  4. Memory module failure.
  5. CPU overclocking.
  6. Hardware compatibility issues.
  7. Quality issues with hardware components.
  8. Failed BIOS update.

Methods to Resolve Startup Crashes:

Step 01:
If the computer crashes after being moved, it's likely due to vibration during transportation. The movement can cause internal components to loosen, resulting in poor contact. In this case, open the case and reseat the memory, graphics card, and other devices.

Step 02:
If the crash occurs after changing the BIOS settings, revert to the previous BIOS configuration. If you forget the original settings, you can select "Load Standard Defaults" in the BIOS to restore the settings.

Step 03:
If the crash happens after CPU overclocking, it's likely due to overclocking. Overclocking increases the chances that data can't be found in the memory or virtual memory, causing the crash. To fix this, restore the CPU frequency to its default settings.

Step 04:
If you see a message such as "Invalid Boot Disk," this means system files are missing or corrupted, or the hard disk partition table is damaged. You can repair the system files or restore the partition table.

Step 05:
If the issue isn't resolved by the previous steps, check the inside of the chassis for cleanliness and ensure that all device connections are secure. Dust can corrode circuits and interfaces, causing poor contact between components, which leads to crashes. Clean the dust and reconnect the devices securely to eliminate the issue.

Step 06:
If the problem persists, try replacing the components to resolve any hardware compatibility or quality issues.

Causes of Crashes During Operating System Startup

The main causes of crashes when starting the operating system are:

  1. System files are lost or corrupted.
  2. Virus infection.
  3. Corrupted initialization files.
  4. Improper shutdown of the computer.
  5. Bad sectors on the hard disk.
